Avi joined Word of Life as an intern in 2022 and completed the four-year programme at the end of 2025. He and Esmée got married in 2024, and she joined him on the six-month overseas placement as part of the fourth-year programme. They both started their roles as Intern Managers at the beginning of 2026, and are passionate about discipling and developing young adults to be future ministry leaders.
Esmée has a Bachelor of Teaching, and was a classroom teacher for two and a half years before starting at Word of Life. Avi has a Bachelor of Business, and is currently studying towards a Masters of Arts in Intercultural Studies through Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Esmée is aiming to complete studies for a Post-Graduate Certificate in Biblical and Theological Studies through Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2026.
